SEELETS has been set up to help each individual member develop his/her potential through fruitful contact with other members. Additionally, to help boost the local economy. Transactions should not therefore undercut local traders.
SEELETS is a non profit membership club whose rights and authority are invested in the SEELETS core group.
Members may give or receive of each other in the agreed SEELETS currency of piers. Only the account holder can authorise the transfer of units from their account to another members account.
No money is is deposited or issued in members accounts. Any transaction may be on a part cash basis, but only piers are recorded in the LETS account system.
No member is obliged to accept any invitation to trade and it expected that all invitations, requests, etc. will be courteous and respectful of each members right to say NO.
Any member is entitled to know the balance and turnover of any other member’s account, all accounts are periodically published for the inspection of all members.
Members agree to their details as entered on the application form being held on computer and also being circulated as hard copy in the form of a directory. Members details are not to be disclosed to non-members without their consent, and it is expected that members will respect each other’s confidentiality at all times.
No interest is charged or paid on balances. An annual membership fee is set by the core group. Also service charges may from time to time be levied against members’ accounts if agreed at core group meetings.
The administration may refuse to make an account or directory entry considered inappropriate for legal or other reasons.
Members have the right and are encouraged to attend any meeting of the core group.
The core group may act on the behalf of the members in seeking explanation or satisfaction from a person whose activity is considered contrary to the interests of the membership. This can result in suspension and ultimately the removal of members from the system.
The core group reserve the right to deny membership to an applicant at their discretion.
Members are individually responsible for their own tax liabilities and returns. SEELETS has no obligation or liability to report to the tax authorities or to collect taxes on their behalf.
SEELETS cannot accept liability for the accuracy of directory entries, nor for the quality of members work or services, nor for the condition or value of any goods offered. All members are advised to satisfy themselves of other members qualifications or competence before undertaking to trade.
Members agree to be bound by the conditions of this agreement.
